The month of June is all about growth, color and long summer days. While nature is in full swing, your garden also requires some extra attention. That's why June is the time to catch up on overdue sowing, take good care of young plants and get your lawn ready for summer. With this practical garden calendar, you'll know exactly what to do this month to keep your garden healthy and radiant!deep

Seeding & Planting
In June, growing conditions are ideal. Still have vegetables you forgot to sow or plant? No worries! You can still do that now. The soil has warmed up nicely and young plants get enough sunlight to grow well.
Note: It is not wise to plant large perennials now. Due to the heat and drought in June, they struggle to take good deep roots. Rather wait until the fall to do this.
Give enough water
June can get pretty dry, and young plants and seedlings are especially susceptible to this. Keep a close eye on your garden and water as needed. Preferably do this in the early morning or in the evening so that the water does not evaporate immediately. This will prevent stress to your plants and keep your garden healthy and fresh.
Weeding
Weeds grow at lightning speed during this time and can quickly overgrow your vegetables and flowers. Remove weeds as soon as you see them. This will prevent it from spreading further. A smart tip: Use ground covers to prevent weeds from having a chance to grow.
Lawn maintenance
A well-groomed lawn is especially important in June:
Feeding: Fertilize your lawn three times a year: in spring, summer and fall. To do this, use MAYA All-in-one organic fertilizer, for example.
Mowing: Mow your lawn once or twice a week, depending on weather and growth. Maintain a mowing height of at least 4 inches. In dry periods, it is smart to mow less often and leave the grass a little longer to make it more resistant to drying out. Mow preferably in the evening hours.
Remove weeds: Are weeds popping up in your lawn? Try to remove them by hand as much as possible to keep your lawn neat and healthy.
Pruning & Maintenance
June is the perfect month to remove spent flowers and do light pruning. Consider:
Rhododendrons and roses: Remove spent flowers to encourage new blooms.
Boxwood: Prune your boxwood to keep it in nice shape. Do this slightly above the old cut and not in full sun to avoid burning.
Do you have fruit trees? Then June is the perfect time to thin them out. Remove poorly developed or damaged fruit. This allows the tree to focus its energy on the best fruit, allowing you to enjoy a beautiful, healthy harvest later in the season.
In June, many insects and diseases are also active around your garden. Therefore, check your plants regularly for these. The sooner you notice problems, the easier they are to combat.
